Where to Go

Our meeting point is the Carters Road Car Park on Carters Road.  Try to arrive 10-15mins so we can get away on time.

What to bring

  • Road worthy Mountain Bike (Compulsory).  If you do not have your own mountain bike you can hire a bike from The Hairy Marron.  Things to check on your bike:

    • Ensure that your tyres have suitable tread for terrain (no slicks).

    • Ensure that your tyres are not worn and have enough tread.

    • Is your chain rusty and making noises? Replace and lube up!

    • Are your gears changing smoothly?  No? Get them serviced at a bike shop.

    • Are your brakes squishy or making noises? Disc brakes or V brakes... maybe your brake pads need replacing?

    • Are there any buckles in your wheels?  Get these "trued" if you don't know how.

    • Do you have any loud rattles and knocks in your steering, cranks or wheel hubs? Don't delay with checking up on this!

    • Ensure there are no sharp objects or bare metal protruding from your bike that could harm you unnecessarily should you fall off (i.e. no handle bar plugs)

  • Australian Safety Standards Approved Helmet (Compulsory).  It is really important your helmet is in good condition.  Please adjust your straps so that your helmet "actually" fits you properly.

  • Hydration (Compulsory) – All participants must carry at least one water bottle with water or similar fluid for hydration and it’s highly recommended you bring more if it’s going to be a hot day. i.e. Hydration pack, water bottles on your bike or in a backpack.  Make sure you fill up your water BEFORE you arrive at the course, water is not available at the location.

  • Comfortable clothing (Recommended)

    • Clothing that you are comfortable in when riding, consider what the weather forecast is going to be.  We are in the South West so check the weather report the day before and a light weight wind vest or rain jacket or another layer if it’s going to be wet and cold.

    • MTB shoes with cleats to fit your pedals, or if you have flat pedals (no cages... too dangerous) it is recommended to wear older runners that can get a bit dirty or roughed up

    • Long fingered riding gloves if possible

  • Nutrition (Optional) – Feel free to bring anything extra you might need to eat.

Payment Terms and Conditions

  • A 25% non-refundable deposit is required to confirm your reservation. Full payment will be requested at the time of booking; however 75% of this payment remains refundable until 14 days prior to the start of the tour (see condition #2 for more detail on cancellation charges). If you prefer to make deposit only payment, please advise Dirt Skills Margaret River at the time of booking.

  • Full payment is due 14 days prior to the start of the tour. If the tour is booked within 14 days of the tour date, full payment is required to confirm. Cancellation within 7-14 days prior to the tour will incur a tariff in the amount of 50% of the full tour cost. Cancellations within 7 days will incur a tariff in the amount of 100% of the full tour cost.

  • All customers signing up for any tours, skills clinics or camps are required to read and sign a release of liability waiver before departing. Failure to do so will result in cancellation of the tour without refund. All participants under the age of 18 must also have a parent or legal guardian sign their release of liability waiver.

  • All pricing listed on the website is based on a max of 5 customers per guide (depending on the type of ride) unless otherwise stated. Please enquire for details on pricing for larger groups.

  • All courses require a minimum of 2 people to run unless stated otherwise. If only one person is booked on a course at the time the course is due to start the duration of the course will be reduced. Eg 3hrs skills session will reduce to 1.5hrs.

  • Dirt Skills Margaret River reserves the right to cancel any tour at any time (typically due to inclement weather conditions or guide injury / sickness). In the event of cancellation, the customer will be offered the opportunity to either reschedule or receive a full refund.

Note: Decisions on weather conditions will be made by staff only and not participants. Skills classes and tours run in most weather conditions so participants need to be prepared with appropriate clothing e.g. wet/cold weather gear.

  • We ask guests to be honest with themselves about their skill level. If you have booked and paid for a course or guided ride with Dirt Skills Margaret River but it is immediately clear that your skills are insufficient for the trip you have booked, we will endeavor to alter the tour, skills clinic or camp to suit your ability. Dirt Skills Margaret River reserves the right to cancel the remainder of the day and refund 75% of your booking fee. The 25% non-refundable deposit will be held by Dirt Skills Margaret River. (You need to be able to ride a bike safely on flat ground).
